Kenja's Newsletter & UpdatesVolume 2/ Edition 10May 16, 2000 |
|
Hello again everybody Welcome to another edition of Kenja's Newsletter & Updates. Sorry about running a bit late yet again with this issue, but I have been busy again updating the website and doing other various projects. *smile* The newsletter has reached a new high of subscribers. We are now at a total of 7000 since last summer. Not bad at all... I guess that means people like to read and share it as it gains in popularity. Personally I feel as though all members of the newsletter are almost like an extended family and with it comes a certain responsibility for me. *smile* Your Opinion Wanted:Which brings me to my next point or rather question that I would like your opinion on. I am thinking about cutting down on the publishing schedule (from every 14 days to every 21 days) for the newsletter during the summer months between June and the toward the end of August (at which point it will again resume with the regular schedule of every 14 days). My reason for doing this is, that I would like to buy myself some time for new projects for my website, catch up on all planned updates from the past and also get some time to make the new promised section with Adult Fantasy (these will not be X-rated) Desktop Themes. So if you don't mind giving your opinion on that subject, send me an e-mail and just write in the subject line and/or body of the message if the temporary change to the time schedule of the newsletter would be acceptable to you. Please remember that majority rules... of course if I only get a few answers (i.e. 50 out of 7000), then I will decide on my own. Either way, I will inform you of the final decision in the next issue, due May 31st. Site Related News:Ok now it is more or less official... Hotbar is now also available for Netscape users. I guess the whole line is now called Hotbar Skins for Window users rather than one browser or the other. My Hotbar Skinz section has changed to accommodate Netscape 4.x (the .x is to indicate that it is for version 4 and above) and Internet Explorer 4.x users as well. It is my understanding that I may have to make a few more minor changes and they too should be in place by the end of the weekend. Still on the subject of Hotbar Skins, Netscape users will notice that they are able to change their skins without being online. There is a work-around way for Internet Explorer users that is rather complicated, or you can download this small free utility called Hotbar Buddy published by MTM. I found this small utility in one of the freeware newsletters I subscribe to. In any event the creator's homepage was no longer accessible and there was no Readme file with the program. If you are the creator of this program, feel free to contact me and I will be happy to add your link to the web based issue for this issue of the newsletter. *smile* Kenja's Stationery for Outlook is still being remodeled. I am hoping to have this done by the end of next month... if all goes well. *smile* New Screensavers:I didn't have any time to make new desktop themes, but I managed to make one new screensaver for the Native American section:
* NOTE* I use Zip Magic to compress Stationery and/or Desktop Theme files into EXE format. If you ever get a password prompt during installation... ignore it and proceed. They are not password protected! For more installation help visit either the Stationery Help or the Theme Help sections. If you need Java Scripts, don't forget to visit the Steal My Java Scripts section, where you can choose from 23 of the most popular Scripts, test them on the site and then copy & paste them into your own homepage(s). Visit the Native American Music Shop for great Native American Music selections. For great gift items visit Kenja's Gift Shop. Gift categories include Fine Jewellery, Gardening Decor, Crystal, Clocks, Brass, Sculptures and so much more. Now with a time-limited Discount of 40% on all items! |
The Gift:
The Gifts for this issue are a Stationery with scrolling background, floating objects & a midi, and Wallpaper (800x600 screen settings) for non stationery users. Graphics for all gifts were created from ground up with PSP 6.0 tubes, various brushes and filters for effect. Please make note that the gifts are only for actual subscribers to this newsletter and not for visitors to the archive copies based on the net. Gifts are available for a limited time with each issue, roughly about 7 days and will then be removed... so get 'em while you can! |
Assorted Software:Guess we finally get to the good stuff, though I am starting off on a cautious note. We most certainly had our scares with new viruses in the past few weeks, and I would like to remind everyone how important it is to scan everything that you download. Make sure that you always check your Virus software, and most importantly keep up with the latest DAT files (virus scan files).

Some Sites of Interest:Pepper's Wallpaper offers some very unique and fun wallpaper for your computer in most screen sizes from 800x600 and above. These wallpapers are mainly Anime, but they also offer wallpaper of various popular computer games, and some assorted wallpaper that could be considered Adult Cartoons and/or SciFi. Very nicely done and great quality as well. If you like puzzle games, check out a new version of the famous game Mahjong, called Mindjong. Both games are offered for free at this site. Another great classic game, Yahtzee, which is offered by a software company called Rekenwonder. You might want to look through this site, as they offer many other free programs as well. Among these free programs are another game called Hex, Briefcase Plus (might be useful for folks who use the Briefcase located on your desktop), Mail Checker and HTML Splitter among others. Another somewhat unusual site is called Recipes on Stationery. This site is chock full with some great cooking recipes offered on some great looking stationery with midi music. Talk about a different approach to presenting recipes. *smile* Make sure to check it out as they have loads of great stuff here. *smile* Still on the subject of recipes, check out the African Cookbook for something entirely different. Personally, back in the day, when I use to cook (not much of that now), I use to love trying out different recipes from different countries. That may have to do with the fact that I grew up in Europe.... though these days eating different foods is still high on the agenda... just not preparing it myself. *smile* Nancy's Kitchen also has a large variety of recipes, and they seem to cover a lot for the busy folks among us by offering Microwave Recipes (definitely more my speed.... if ya can't nuke it and make it glow in the night I don't want it... *laughing*), but also recipes for Diabetics, other specialized Low Fat and/or Low Carb diets and of course the regular stuff like Southern Cooking etc. This is surely a one stop for all needs. *smile* |

On the Lighter Side of Life -:)Dia sent me this right around my birthday at the beginning of the month, and since birthdays are always in season, here is some "food" for thought *laughing*: The Aging ProcessI have found that at my age, going bra-less pulls all the wrinkles out of my face. You're getting old when you don't care where your spouse goes, just as long as you don't have to go along. Statistics show that at the age of seventy, there are five women to every man. Isn't that an ironic time for a guy to get those odds? By the time a man is wise enough to watch his step, he's too old to go anywhere. Middle age is when you have stopped growing at both ends, and have begun to grow in the middle. A man has reached middle age when he is cautioned to slow down by his Doctor instead of by the police. Middle age is having a choice of two temptations and choosing the one that will get you home earlier. At my age, "getting a little action" means I don't need to take a laxative. Don't worry about avoiding temptation. As you grow older, it will avoid you. You're getting old when "getting lucky" means you find your car in the Parking lot. You're getting old when your wife gives up sex for Lent, and you don't know until the 4th of July! You're getting old when you wake up with that morning-after feeling, and you didn't do anything the night before. The cardiologist's diet: If it tastes good, spit it out.
