Kenja's Newsletter & Updates

Volume 2/ Edition 13

August 08, 2000

Hello again everybody

Welcome to another edition of Kenja's Newsletter & Updates.

This is the last issue on Summer Schedule. We will go back to the regular schedule (bi-weekly) starting with next issue. My new projects are coming along, but I still need to do a lot of work to complete everything in time.

Site Related News:

The Stationery section has finally been completed, with the exception of one small section (Native American), which should be done by the end of this week. All stationery is now Outlook Express 4 & 5 (possibly Outlook 2000) compliant. You will notice that I have placed the whole section into frames for easier navigation, and also divided everything into categories and alphabetical order. All stationery found in the categorized section are the full sets in exe format that include scrolling backgrounds, midis, and in some cases additional animation and/or Marquees. Everything found in the alphabetical section are bordered backgrounds (these are only graphics and not full effect stationery) for use in various e-mail programs and/or as web graphics.

Current Project:

One of my current projects involves gifted people who are willing to volunteer their talents. Even though this project is nearing completion for now, I am still looking for more people who are considered "gifted" (professional as well as freelancer).
By gifted, I am talking about people who are Psychic, read Palms, read Tarot, Astrologers (Western and/or Chinese), Rune Stones, I-Ching, Numerology, Clairvoyants, Dream Interpretations, Healers, Teachers of Psychic Phenomena, Ghosts, Haunting, Color Therapy etc.
If you are talented in those areas and would consider sharing your talents on a more or less volunteer basis, email me with your current and/or past reading experiences. Please only serious inquiries! I will not answer questions about this project unless you are "gifted" and enclose the requested information.

* NOTE* I use Zip Magic to compress Stationery and/or Desktop Theme files into EXE format. If you ever get a password prompt during installation... ignore it and proceed. They are not password protected! For more installation help visit either the Stationery Help or the Theme Help sections.

If you need Java Scripts, don't forget to visit the Steal My Java Scripts section, where you can choose from 23 of the most popular Scripts, test them on the site and then copy & paste them into your own homepage(s).

Visit the Native American Music Shop for great Native American Music selections.

For great gift items visit Kenja's Gift Shop. Gift categories include Fine Jewellery, Gardening Decor, Crystal, Clocks, Brass, Sculptures and so much more. Now with a time-limited Discount of 40% on all items!

The Gift:

The Gifts for this issue are a Stationery with scrolling background, & midi, and Wallpaper (800x600 screen settings) for non stationery users. Graphic for stationery gift was created from ground up with PSP 6.0 tubes, various brushes and filters for effect. Wallpaper gift was created with various filters and textures for effect and is based on a painting by Kayomi ©.

Hope you enjoy the Gifts!

Please make note that the gifts are only for actual subscribers to this newsletter and not for visitors to the archive copies based on the net. Gifts are available for a limited time with each issue, roughly about 7 days and will then be removed... so get 'em while you can!

Fonts:

Fonts can be used to create great looking web graphics, greeting cards, and/or other graphics projects. Windows 95 supported an almost unlimited amount of fonts on your PC. However with the newer versions like Windows 98 or 2000, you are limited to about 800-900 fonts installed. Still, there is no such thing as having too many fonts, as you can always save fonts to CD or Floppy disk and swap them out from time to time:

  • Coron's Sources of Fonts offers a great variety of some very unusual TTF (True Type Fonts). Categories are for Alien/SciFi, Fantasy, Ancient, Symbolic, Blackletter/Fractur and Exotic. All fonts are for PC (some great links available for Mac users), and all have a nice preview pictures. Don't miss the links to other font sites, though I personally loved the links that offer information and history on Ancient Scripts of the World. *smile*

  • 1001 Free Fonts is a great site as well, though I found that the menu on the right side is misleading (not links to their site). Anyway, just click on any of the letters, which in turn will display all the fonts that are available starting with that letter. There is a huge variety here, also with good-sized preview pictures. Not all fonts offered are Freeware, but also Demos and Shareware (you may not get the whole alphabet with them until you pay for them).

  • Fontation is a great site with many different fonts and here too, they are sorted alphabetically. You will also need a Java enabled browser to see the previews, and there is no information given to inform you if they are Freeware or not.

  • Fishdicks Fonts offers about 20 excellent and original fonts. A word of caution, if you are sensitive to 'language' used (somewhat explicit in part), and/or some adult oriented content (there are some adult fonts as well), then do not visit this site.

  • Free PC Fonts is a links page for other font sites. There are three pages here with links and if you couldn't find something at the other sites mentioned here, you may want to check this site out as well.

Midis:

These great instrumental music files are small in size and are mostly available for free on the Internet. Here are a few sites that have a large selection, sorted alphabetically, by genre (type), by artist names or are link pages to other great sites:

  • MidiCity Entertainment Directory is a large site with an archive of links to other sites that offer mostly midis, but also Real Audio, MP3 and Karaoke. What makes this site a little different is that, there is a rating with each link and a brief description of the site. Overall a good source for music.

  • Virtual Free Music is pretty much like above, except they do not have a rating system. Still, here too you will also find links to various midi, music software, other sources of music information and of course plenty of links.

  • Classical Music Archive is one of my favorite sites for midis. These midis are copyright to Pierry R. Schwob, and he asks you to limit your access to about 100 midis a day. Still an excellent source for classical music, sorted alphabetically and by composer name (754 composers in all). Guess if you can't find it here, it most likely doesn't exist. *smile*

  • The Midi Farm is probably one of the longest established sites for midis on the Internet to date. This site offers over 15,000 midis sorted by the original music artists. They also require you to register, but this is free of charge and well worth it. You can find almost anything here... Pop music, Jazz, New Age, Rock, Oldies, Country, Holidays, etc. Bring some time when you visit here. *smile*

Wallpaper and Screensavers:

Here are a few more items for your desktop in form of wallpaper and screensavers. Hope you find something here that you like:

  • I came across this site called Snap-Shot Wallpaper by accident. Wallpaper is offered in six main categories, then dived in countless sub categories. You also get a choice of three screen setting sizes 640x480 and above, and the quality is great. They also offer pictures for use on web pages, and/or for other personal use. Please read instructions at their website. *smile*

  • The Ultimate Tweety Site offers anything and everything connected to the cute Warner Brothers ™ birdie. Here you will find information, wallpaper, screensavers, sound files and much more. Cute site... and kids and/or fans will love it. *smile*

  • FreeSaver.Com offers over 1200 free Screensavers. Bring a lot of time or know what you are looking for when you visit here, otherwise get stuck for hours. The site is easy to get around on, as everything is listed categorized, alphabetically (also a separate list for Mac users), and of course a list of all the new stuff. *smile*

  • Ah and last but not least... Christmas in August! *laughing* I found a site that is chock full with nothing but Christmas Screensavers (also the name of the site). I guess it's never too early to think about Christmas... though I am not quite sure if the same applies in respect to screensavers. *smile*
