Hello everyone

Welcome to another issue of the newsletter, dedicated to Halloween since it is just ten days away. I hope everyone is using an HTML enabled email or you will miss the effects of this issue. In the event that you do not see the effects, you can always view the newsletter in the archive of the website. *smile*

I would like to take on guest writers for the newsletter. If you have an article, recipe, tutorial, poems or anything else you would like to share with our 10,000+ readership, then email me a copy of the article (already proof read and formatted) inside of an email message. Submitted articles will be published (if approved) within 60 days of submission.

Site Related News:

Last newsletter I had talked about re-opening the Halloween section. However, on closer examination of the traffic records from previous years I found that there wasn't that much interest for that section (very small amount of traffic). Considering the additional work and my limitation on time, I then decided against re-opening that section. Instead I have gone all out on some new screen savers.

In the Screensaver section you will find a few new items called:

  • Seasonal Teddies (covers all major holidays including Graduation, 4th July and of course Xmas)
  • Bear Living (matches some of the prints but also many never before seen teddy pictures)
  • Heavenly Angels (pictures of angels and nature with uplifting and inspirational phrases)
  • Spooky (3-D animated saver with a floating Jack o' Lantern)
  • House on the Hill (Halloween saver with many special effects and great sounds)

I have also added an Adult Screensaver section that currently includes seven screensavers of female centerfolds (semi nude/nude) with adult fantasy soon to follow. Due to the nature of these screensavers (also some nudity in the preview pictures), this section is for adults 18 years of age or older only (see entry page disclaimer). Please, if you are not interested in these types of screensavers and/or you are not old enough to visit this section then DON'T and please refrain from sending me any "hate mail"!!

Adorable Teddies in Print are currently on sale for US$ 10.- each! These poster prints are hand signed & numbered, varying in size from 15½x11¾ inches to 17½x12 inches and come on high-quality cardboard weight, acid-free paper.

On the topic of viruses, it had come to my attention that most of my web pages on kenja.com were serving a trojan virus called JS/Seeker (also see Microsoft article about Security hole in Outlook/OE and Microsoft virtual machine vulnerability patch), which prompted a download of this Trojan virus. I investigated the problem immediately, and found that one of the companies I use for banner rotation services had inadvertently been infected, and in turn served the Trojan through my banner code (third party delivery) within my html. The problem has been taken care of and all pages that were effected are now fixed again!! If you need a virus scan software, but cannot afford to pay for one, get the AVG Anti Virus 6.0 Free Edition

It's Halloween:

Here are a few websites dealing exclusively with the topic of Halloween. A little of everything to brighten your day (or your kids) and your mood:

  • Halloween Fun at Kid's Domain offers a variety of neat stuff to see and do. You will find programs (games, screensavers, themes, puzzles, etc.) for Windows or Mac users, party ideas, recipes, greeting cards, printable coloring pages, haunted stories, books, craft projects, and much more. What I liked best is that they have a whole section on how to make your own costumes, which could save you a lot of money and most seem easy enough to make.

  • A cute site sponsored by Universal™ and Unicef is called HalloweenKids.com offering some very neat Shockwave games like Alvin the Chipmunk meets Frankenstein Match and Memory games, Get Spooked with Dracula (I died in less than 5 seconds with -200 points... guess I am not a gamer *laughing*), Make a Monster Lab, online coloring, tips on how to decorate a pumpkin and ghost cards to send to friends.

  • I found this real adorable page called Grandpa Tucker's Halloween Poems and Stories. Here you will find original Halloween Poetry (written by kids and by Grandpa Tucker), spooky stories, and even some sing-along songs in a section called Halloween Carols (didn't even know they had such a thing *smile*)

  • Jack o' Lantern.com is by far the best place on the Internet to get your pumpkin carving patterns. Lots of choices and easy to follow instructions. They now also offer Melon (water melons, honey melons, etc.) patterns for 4th of July or other summer holidays.

  • Shadowlands is for adults and has over 3700 "true" ghost stories. I would suggest keeping an open mind and you may be surprised. *grin* They also offer video clips, ghostly sounds and much more.

  • Halloween on the Web is a large resource for all sorts of ghostly links on the Internet. Some websites are based on history and some are just for plain fun.

  • And don't miss a site called Gruesome Makeup Hints: Halloween on the Web from Aristotle® with some very easy to follow and effective makeup hints. You will need this to go with your own home-made costume from one of the sites above. *smile*

Various Programs and Desktop Enhancements:

The following are various programs and other things to enhance your desktop. Not everything is free or for the holidays, but still great to check out:

  • Holiday Lights from Tiger Technologies is a wonderful way to enhance your computer desktop with blinking lights for all the major holidays. This software is Shareware but well worth a try. The lights also double as a screensaver, and you can choose and replace any and/or all elements to make your own creation with their extensive add-on library with hundreds of lights, screensaver background packs, and midi music.

  • Another awesome screensaver, and even though not exactly for the holidays, but so great it needs to be mentioned is the Aquatica Waterworld Screensaver (Shareware). The screensaver has 3-D fish with full natural movements and is fully customizable. You can add more items from their galleries like fish, sounds for the talking fish (very funny add-on), corals, rocks, background scenery and much more. You can also connect to their network and update notes or dates on your screensaver that will then be seen by others on your own network. The Aquatica Scenery Maker (Shareware and free version available) lets you create your very own 3-D underwater scenes (you can also import your own pictures) for the screensaver or you can export the finished scene and set as wallpaper on your desktop, each making it your very own and unique creation once you are done.

  • If you are a frequent Internet Radio listener, and are looking for an FM Radio interface, try WinFM 1.1 from inKline. This program is relatively small with its download size of around 3.8 MB (compared to its competitors), and could be considered the Ultimate Internet Radio Player with a comprehensive collection of over 1,000 national and international Internet radio stations (also includes an automated update). Unlike other audio players that make you search for your station before you're tuned in, click on all sorts of links and/or buttons, or interrupt the stream with ads, WinFM makes it so much easier... just hit "play" and you're tuned in!

  • Here are some websites that have links to all sorts of Internet Radio stations, TV Stations and/or live Web Cams:

  • Stationery.org has a nice collection of Stationery for Outlook and Outlook Express (4.x & 5.x) users. Please follow directions on how to install their stationery as you have to download all items separate too.

  • Screens and Themes has a special Halloween download section with wallpaper, desktop themes, cursors, icons, and screensavers.

  • Any hard core gamers out there? You might like to give the Action/Adventure game called StarFight VI - Gatekeepers a whirl. This game is 100% Freeware, but a whopping 194 MB to download (I would not touch that big of a download due to a mere dial-up connection *smile*). Judging from the games preview graphics it looks like a great game. A complete manual for this game is also online along with a step-by-step walkthrough. Let me know if it's any good... might have to reconsider the download after all. *smile*
