Kenja's Newsletter & Updates

Volume 3 Edition 5

April 18, 2001

Hello everyone

Welcome to another edition of Kenja's Newsletter.

I have to apologize again for being a bit late with the newsletter, but I have been busy making some adjustments to the web sites and working yet again on some new projects.

In any case, I hope everyone had a great and safe Easter holiday weekend. *smile*

Site Related News:

Kenja's Stationery has received a minor overhaul last week. I have added all outstanding graphics from the alphabetic section that were missing before (m-z). There are now a total of 220 bordered graphics in that section, for use as Stationery graphics and/or personal homepages. Graphics are now also displayed with full screen previews. Enjoy!

I have also decided to delete a few sections from the website due to lack of traffic and/or interest. The following section are no longer available: Midis, Fonts, Java Scripts, WinAmp Skins, Graphic Galleries and the Halloween section.

Check out the Adorable Teddies in Print. All are hand signed and numbered, vary in size from 15½x11¾ inches to 17½x12 inches and come on high-quality cardboard like art print paper. Preview pictures have been adjusted in size and the Teddy House and Teddy Dollhouse allow for a larger preview of the whole picture instead of just one room.

Past Lives Revealed website offers original Inspirational & Angel Stationery for Outlook and/or Outlook Express users, free original Inspirational Greeting Cards, Mystic Desktop Enhancements (Desktop Themes & Wallpaper), Various Readings (Palms, Clairvoyant, Dreams, Past Lives, Missing Items/People, Tarot, Herbalists, and many more) or visit the website's own Chatroom for a live Reading, Classes and/or discussions.

The Gifts:

The Stationery (offered in EML Format packaged into ZIP to decompresses to any directory you choose and regular EXE format that will decompress to your Outlook folder on your hard drive) includes an original scrolling bordered background, and a midi. The Wallpaper is a matching piece for 800x600 screen settings, also best viewed in high color of 16-bit or better. Graphics for both Stationery and Wallpaper gift are original creations made with PSP 7 (used various tubes and filters for effects).

If you are new to EML format Stationery, read the EML Help section for further instructions.

* PLEASE NOTE: Gifts are only for actual subscribers (available for 5-7 days with each issue) and not for visitors to the newsletter archive at the website.

*** NOTE*   I use Zip Magic to compress Stationery and/or Desktop Theme files into EXE format. If you ever get a password prompt during installation... ignore it and proceed. They are not password protected! For more help with installation(s) visit the Help section at either Stationery, Theme Help, and the Hotbar Skin Tutorial sections.

Various Sites and Software:

This section is small, as I want to concentrate on the Craft sites below. However, the sites and software listed here are more than worth a mention:

  • Users of the popular ICQ chat program have probably noticed that the new versions carry now advertising banners. If you would like to get rid of these, visit a site called Chick's Hardware ICQ Advert Remover Guide. Please follow the step-by-step picture instructions to a tee, to avoid any mishaps to the ICQ program and/or your computer. *smile* This site also offers a hardware price guide and several other topics you may find of interest.

  • Yahoo offers a free Messenger program and now also a program called Yahoo Drive (still in beta... which means it is still in the testing phase), that lets you add files to your Yahoo account (Briefcase and/or Photo albums) from your hard drive without visiting their website. Be aware that, if you use this program they will monitor your usage patterns and various other information (Yahoo provides you with about 20 MB of drive space to back up local files and/or for file sharing with friends).

  • If you are looking for more Yahoo Messenger (new beta version is also available with more enhanced features) skins, try the Skin Stop with hundreds of skins in many categories. This site also offers a skin competition that ends June 30th, 2001, might be worth entering and win the $150.- gift certificate from Amazon.

Looking for some fun and rather unusual greeting cards to send to friends and/or family? Give the Tooned site a whirl. Here you can either download an EXE format of the card, or customize it online and send it from there. Most cards are adult humor, and not intended for children.

Two great resource sites that offer tutorials for Outlook Express 5 are the Tomsterdam site with "Inside Outlook Express 5" and the WinPlanet (offers downloads, articles, reviews and many different tutorials for Windows users) with a detailed tutorial on Getting Productive With Outlook 2000 (part of Office 2000).

OK, as promised in the last newsletter, here are the links to various Craft sites and to other Craft related topics. Hope you enjoy these links and free projects and patterns:

  • Links to free patterns of all sorts to include but not limited to are Cross Stitch, Crochet, Wood working (i.e Birdhouses, shelves, etc.), painting, baskets, beadwork, etc., can be found at Free Pattern Site. On the Lighter Side of Life -:)

The following joke is not very long but cute... hope you enjoy it. *smile*

Getting Into Heaven

A fellow finds himself in front of the Pearly Gates. St. Peter explains that it's not easy to get into heaven. There are some criteria that must be met before entry is allowed. For example, was the man a church-goer or religious? No? St. Peter told him that's bad.

Was he generous, giving money to the poor or to charities? No? St. Peter told him that that, too, was bad. Did he do any good deeds, such as helping his neighbor? Anything? No? St. Peter was becoming concerned. Exasperated, the Saint says, "Look, everybody does something nice sometime. Work with me, here! I'm trying to help. Now think!"

The man thinks for a minute, then says, "Well, I did help this old lady once. I came out of a store and saw that a dozen Hell's Angels had taken her purse and were shoving her around. I threw my bags down and got her purse back, then I told the biggest biker there that he was cowardly and I spat in his face."

"Wow," said St. Peter, "That's impressive! When did this happen?"

"Oh, about 15 minutes ago," replied the man.
